Coos Bay Boardwalk and Waterfront Walkway

Coos Bay Boardwalk is located on Highway 101 in Coos Bay at the intersection of Anderson Avenue. The boardwalk features three pavilions housing interpretive displays to learn about the natural and human history of the area. Located on the historic waterfront of this lumber port, bounded by the bay on one side and coastal Highway 101 on the other, the buildings house various displays related to the history of the region as well as current attractions. It serves as a stopping point and education center for travelers passing along this scenic highway. The post and beam structures of the pavilions are supported on a wood piling system over the bay.

We are working to connect the Coos Waterfront Walkway from our boardwalk to North Bend's boardwalk through this 5-mile-long walk along our beautiful stretch of the Oregon Coast, and we have a CONNECT! walk between the two each June. We walk for fun and to learn about the access and connectivity issues involved in completing the project. Show the Cities of Coos Bay and North Bend, and the Coquille Indian Tribe that connecting the boardwalks is an important community-desired economic development project, and that access to a beautiful walkable working waterfront and healthy active living is something that we will all benefit from.

Contact us for more details about the family-friendly event or how you can get involved. Joggers, bicyclists, and users of non-motorized transportation are welcome and can make your own way along the route. Walkers can choose either a guided 1 mile or 5 mile route. Free shuttle service at the end of the 5-mile walk will be provided. Both groups will enjoy living history moments along Front Street, always a crowd favorite, and meet at the Coos History Museum for a rest stop, ice cream, and one of two raffle drawings.
