Want to dance to your own tempo and style, but also have a crazy love for the blues? Well, Portland has a place for you.
Check out Barefoot Blues Fridays, an evening of alternative blues dancing that is served up as-you-like-it style. You’ll spot on the dance floor everything from traditional blues dancing, to fusion dancing. Folks mix in a little tango, or get intimate with micro blues (done in a tight embrace with slight body movements).
The event is held on Fridays at Lenora’s Ballroom. It’s an all-ages dance, and was organized with the intention of creating a blues dancing space that invites connection, movement, imagination, and music to collide on the dance floor.
It’s a great way to start grooving to the blues, or even to start experimenting with movement and dance. If you’re totally unfamiliar with dancing and secretly fear that you have two left feet, worry not – there’s a beginners’ lesson held before each dance to demonstrate the basics.
Location: Lenora’s Ballroom, 615 SE Alder Street, Portland OR
Lesson: 8:30 p.m. - 9:15 p.m. free with admission
