AMERICAN HERO at Artists Repertory Theatre

AMERICAN HERO, showing at Artists Repertory Theatre’s Alder Stage (1516 SW Alder Street), will run October 4 through October 30, 2016. Written by Bess Wohl and Directed by Shawn Lee, this is a thought-provoking comedy about the American middle class trying to make ends “meat and cheese”, told through the lens of a franchise sandwich shop.

Preview performances for AMERICAN HERO are October 4 – 7. October 4 is Pay-What-You-Can First Preview Performance. October 8 is Opening Night. Show times are Wednesday - Sunday at 7:30 pm; Sundays at 2:00 pm. Post-show discussions follow Sunday 2:00 pm matinee performances. October 23 at 7:30pm is an open captioned performance. October 29 at 2:00 pm is an ASL interpreted performance.

When you attend the show, be sure to check out their exhibit from the Regional Arts & Culture Council’s Visual Chronicle of Portland – it focuses on artists’ views of the city’s social and urban landscapes.

Artists Repertory Theatre is one of the region’s premiere theater companies, featuring 27 Resident Artists. ART’s productions are known to be intimate and to ask the important questions. Their 2016-2017 season includes seven diverse productions focused on themes of family and the pursuit of happiness.
