Forest Park, Portland

Did you know that the largest forested city park in the U.S. is found in Portland? Located just west of downtown, Forest Park is also one of the most beautiful.

The Park stretches for more than 8 miles (13 km), with tall trees, lush green vegetation, and well-maintained trails, make hiking through an amazing experience. You can hike for 30 miles on the Wildwood Trail alone if you have that much time and energy, and it is a tradition for folks to do that on the day after Thanksgiving.

The Wildwood and the many lovely shorter trails it intersects are mostly reserved for hikers and runners, but biking and/or horseback riding are allowed on some of the firelanes and roads.

Visit the Forest Park Conservancy website for directions to the trailheads, information about wildlife, ways you can help, and more: http://www.forestparkconservancy.org/forest-park/maps/
