Astoria Column

The Astoria Column offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, the Columbia River, Young's Bay, and the Coast Range. It is a beautiful historic column erected in 1926 and modeled on the Trajan Column in Rome. It sits 600 feet above sea level and it's definitely worth the climb to the top.

Attilio Pusterla painted the historic scenes spiraling up the column in the sgraffito painting technique. They start with Native American scenes and continue to the 20th Century. The paintings and entire column were painstakingly restored recently.

There is no cost to visit the park site or to enter the Column. If you drive to the park you are asked to purchase an annual parking pass for $2 in the gift shop. We also recommend you buy a $1 plane to sail from the top!

The Astoria Column is located at 1 Coxcomb Drive in Astoria. Directional signs can be found on 14th and 16th Streets.
