Wayfinding Academy Lab: Locating the Artistic Impluse

In this Lab we’ll consider the artistic impulse, what it is, its value in day to day life, and what potential it possesses to transform in connection with the environment. We’ll explore the intersection between art, human nature, and the natural world, testing out ways of knowing and perceiving through a constellation of activities and artistic modes (such as writing, drawing, movement, meditation, etc.). You’ll have the opportunity to apply your artistic impulse (whether you consider yourself artistic or not!), express yourself as you choose, and connect with and explore the sensorial and natural world.

We’ll…

  • Engage in artistic practice
  • Investigate knowing vs. knowing about
  • Get out of our seats and into the outdoors
  • Explore our relationship to the environment and the value of the artistic impulse on a personal and societal level
  • Connect, discuss, and share together
