Tech nerds, innovation enthusiasts, and aspiring entrepreneurs will unite at the Viking Pavilion in Portland on April 4-5 for TechfestNW – an annual festival event showcasing speakers, workshops, a demo floor, and a whole lot of networking.
It’s the place to be if you want to get the scoop on startup tips, talk to big-name Oregon investors, or even to just watch the spectacle of this year’s Pitchfest competition. There will be parties and educational events, and a buffet of demos and displays.
Some highlights of the 2019 festival include:
- A dizzying and delightful array of aspiring startups already on the PitchfestNW list, all in the running to pitch their startup ideas to a panel of venture capitalists. The top five startups get to pitch to the entire conference, and the winner gets not only bragging rights but some swell prizes. Expect to see pitches ranging from AI software and medical learning programs, to dating apps and vegan chocolate.
- Speakers from an mix of backgrounds and industries, from journalists to angel investors, covering topics ranging from developing smart cities, to cutting edge cybersecurity developments. Expect Oregon-based experts along with a sprinkling of national (and international) figures.
- The PSU Cleantech Challenge as part of PitchfestNW. Portland State University students will showcase their ideas to fix urgent environmental concerns in an exciting competition with $10,000 in grants and prizes awarded to winners. Undergraduates, graduates, postdocs, and faculty are all welcome to compete.
