The City of Ridgefield invites you to join the festivities at BirdFest & Bluegrass on Saturday, October 5th. This year is the 20th Anniversary of BirdFest, the annual Friends of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge event that brings awareness to the Refuge and all it has to offer. Come to Ridgefield and enjoy everything that BirdFest & Bluegrass has to offer, on and off the refuge.
In downtown Ridgefield you will find BirdFest themed family friendly activities and the Ridgefield Farmers Market at Overlook Park, as well as a Birder’s Marketplace at the Ridgefield Administrative and Civic Center. Participate in Arts and Crafts at the Ridgefield Community Library, or join the Big Canoe Paddle on Lake River with the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership. Enjoy Bluegrass Performances at Old Liberty Theater (3 shows for $10!) or find Pickers’ Festival jam sessions around town. Explore hands on learning opportunities with Oregon Zoo ZAP at Overlook Park, or at the Audubon Society of Portland Live Bird show at Union Ridge Elementary from 1-2PM!
Visit the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge for free during BirdFest and introduce yourself to this incredible resource, located right here in Ridgefield’s backyard. Discover the birds, wildlife, trails and Cathlapotle Plankhouse with tours, naturalist led hikes, hands-on workshops and cultural activities. Find family friendly birding walks, photography, a geology walk, watercolor classes and more starting at 8AM. Join the Chinook Indian Nation and Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde for a blessing of the food, drumming and a taste of traditionally baked salmon and seafood stew at 4PM at the Cathlapotle Plankhouse. For a full schedule and pre-registration, visit https://ridgefieldfriends.org/birdfest-bluegrass.
Throughout the day a free trolley will be available to transport you between downtown and the Refuge! Don’t miss out on the BirdFest and Bluegrass 20th Anniversary, Saturday, October 5th. Activities on the Refuge begin at 8AM and in downtown at 10AM.
